A traditional all malt beer, fermented in the traditional German Method.

The fourth generation of a family of publicans, Scharer was convinced beer could be made small scale in a pub and so in the 1970’s he travelled to England for the international Brew Ex Trade Fair, where he found fellow souls among traditional German brewers. Convinced that he could make high quality, natural beers Scharer spent years against all odds pursuing his goal and in 1981 he was granted the first brewing license in Australia, to establish a small pub brewery and in 1987 commenced production at the George IV Inn at Picton.
The W. Short Hospitality owns and operates some of New South Wales’ most iconic pubs and hotels, including the original home of Scharer’s, The Australian Heritage Hotel.
Scharer’s is currently pouring at The Australian Heritage Hotel in The Rocks, and The Royal Hotel in Leichhardt.
